These rivets have two parts - a base and a cap.
The base is flat and leaves a flush finish, the cap is raised.
The base is placed upon a hard surface and the shank is pushed through the hole in the leather. The cap is placed over the base and then struck with a mallet or hammer. The rivets self-swage.
The dome of the cap can be preserved using a setting tool but this is not essential. |
